The first group to be featured under this music program is the Laru Beya Boys. Laru Beya, meaning beachside/seaside, has been around for an inordinate amount of years. Originally and affectionately led by Dox Thomas, the Laru Beya boys has been in existence for over 15 years. Before becoming a full cultural band, the group use to have dancers.

The first feature Band: The Laru Beya Boys has—as is true with dozens of bands—experienced its fair share of changes over the last few years. Today, eight years after Dox Thomas has passed on the baton to the next generation, the group is led by lead vocalist and guitarist, Giovanni Chi. Now at the helm of this up-and-coming band, Chi has made it clear that the Laru Beya Boys’ true mission is to promote and champion the ever growing essence of true Belizean music.
